Zen Priest-in-Training, Renée Noëlle Meiffren started this group to provide a place and time for people to sit in-person together. She has an M.Div. from Shogaku Zen Institute & an M.A. in Dance Education from NYU. Renee is a Certified Mindfulness Teacher from Dharma Moon & Tibet House (NYC). She has been training with SF Zen Center since 2006, lay-ordained in 2009. Renée is training to become a Zen Priest under SFZC's Rev. Shoren Heather Iarusso at Tassajara Zen Mountain Center in CA. She also trains with Elizabeth Pyjov at Happiness Sangha, NYC. Renée is trained as a chaplain & she had her own ballet school in Portland for years. She is also an illustrator who is interested in how art & meditation intersect. You can check out her artwork here.

Silent Meditation: We offer short instruction in Mindfulness Meditation as well as Shikantaza, but you are welcome to engage in any sort of Silent Meditation you enjoy and all postures are welcome. Each sitting session is 20-25 mins long. You can adjust your posture at any time. We have chairs but you are welcome to bring your own zafu & zabuton, if you wish. We also offer walking meditation & meditative drawing sessions. Please contact us for more details.
